Your information.
In good hands.
How we use the details you share with The Money Field — from joining a newsletter to requesting a free PDF — and the choices you have.
Privacy Policy · Last updated 28 October 2026
Only people who actively opt in are added to our email marketing lists.
Our current tool submissions do not send pension balances or model assumptions to our email lists.
Unsubscribe any time, or contact us to ask about your personal information.
01. Who we are
The Money Field operates themoneyfield.com, a UK financial education, editorial and tools website. The operator of The Money Field is responsible for the personal information collected through its website forms and the related marketing lists.
For any privacy question or request relating to your information, email hello@themoneyfield.com. We will identify the relevant data controller and point of contact for your request.
Our tools provide general educational illustrations, not individual financial advice. They are not a substitute for regulated professional advice.
02. What information we collect
Newsletter and Insights & Updates signups
If you choose to subscribe, we collect your email address, what you opted in to, the signup source (such as the page or tool), and the details needed to record and administer your consent. Klaviyo may also process technical information associated with subscription requests and email interactions.
Free PDF requests
When you request access to a retirement or cash-flow PDF, we record your email address, the type of report, when it was requested, the source domain and whether you separately opted in to marketing. Our current PDF service unlocks a browser-based download; it does not send the PDF as an email attachment.
Financial tools
The inputs you enter into our current calculators, Retirement Report and Life Planner are processed in your browser to display calculations and create printable reports. We do not include those figures in our email signup or PDF request submissions.
Technical information
Like most websites, our hosting and service providers may handle essential technical information such as IP addresses, device or browser details, server request records and security logs to operate the site and prevent misuse.
03. Why we use your information
Under UK data protection law, we need a lawful basis for each use of personal information.
| Purpose | What we use | Lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Deliver The Weekly Brief | Email and signup/consent information | Your consent |
| Send Insights & Updates | Email and signup/consent information | Your consent |
| Manage a requested free PDF | Email, report type, submission details | Our legitimate interest in providing and administering the free service you requested |
| Maintain site security and respond to problems | Technical logs and relevant correspondence | Our legitimate interests in operating and protecting the website |
| Comply with a legal obligation | Only the information reasonably required | Legal obligation, where applicable |
We do not make joining a marketing list a condition of downloading a free PDF. We only use your details for a purpose we have explained, or otherwise where law permits it.
04. Our emails and your choices
The Weekly Brief
This is our separate editorial newsletter. You receive it when you actively opt in through The Weekly Brief signup form. Its mailing list is separate from the Insights & Updates list.
Insights & Updates
These are occasional emails from The Money Field about financial education, practical guides, new tools and resources, relevant events and offers. You are added only when you actively tick the relevant optional checkbox or submit an explicitly opted-in form.
Confirmation and unsubscribing
Some signups use double opt-in, meaning you may need to confirm your subscription from an email before joining a list. Every marketing email should contain an unsubscribe option. You can also email us to withdraw consent. Withdrawing consent does not affect uses of data that were lawful before you withdrew it.
Entering an email to access a report does not, by itself, subscribe you to The Weekly Brief or Insights & Updates. The optional checkbox is unticked by default.
06. International data transfers
Some service providers, including Klaviyo, may process personal information outside the UK, including in the United States. When information is transferred internationally, the transfer must be covered by an applicable UK data protection mechanism, such as an adequacy arrangement or appropriate contractual safeguards. You can ask us for more information about the relevant safeguards.
Our providers publish further information about their handling of data, including Klaviyo's Data Processing Agreement and Netlify's privacy information.
07. How long we keep information
We keep data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described above, subject to any relevant legal or security requirements.
- Newsletter and marketing contacts: until you unsubscribe or otherwise withdraw consent, subject to any limited suppression or audit record needed to honour that choice and demonstrate compliance.
- PDF request records: reviewed and deleted once no longer needed to administer report access, resolve related questions or meet a legitimate legal-recordkeeping need.
- Technical and security information: kept in accordance with the relevant hosting provider's settings and the operational/security need.
You can contact us to ask what we hold and request deletion, subject to applicable exceptions.
09. Your data protection rights
Depending on the circumstances and the lawful basis involved, UK data protection law gives you rights to:
- Be informed about how your data is used.
- Request access to personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Request erasure or restriction in applicable circumstances.
- Object to certain processing, including direct marketing.
- Request portability of your data where that right applies.
- Withdraw marketing consent at any time.
To exercise a right, email hello@themoneyfield.com. We aim to respond within the time limits required by law, usually one month, subject to any permitted extension or exception.
If you remain dissatisfied, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). You also have the right to seek a judicial remedy where applicable.
10. Keeping information secure
We use hosted services and access controls to help protect information. No online system can be guaranteed completely secure. We aim to limit access to those who need it and to avoid collecting more personal or financial information than necessary.
If you think information associated with your account or report request has been exposed, please contact us promptly.
11. Updates and contact
We may update this policy as our website, tools or service providers change. The date at the top indicates the latest version. Where we introduce a materially new use of personal information, we will explain it as required before starting that processing.
